Bike taxi, velotaxi, pedicab, bikecab, cyclo, beca, becak, trisikad, or trishaw. Many names, same vehicle. Cycle rickshaws are human-powered type of tricycle designed to carry passengers in addition to the driver. It is still one of the most important means of transport in South, Southeast and East Asia. In India rickshaw drivers work day and night on some of the most dangerous roads in the world. Everyday they deal with a lot of verbal abuse from the car drivers, bus drivers, and passers by. However, they maintain a stoic, passive, and submissive face all throughout, rarely fighting back or raising their voice. For them their work it is a daily struggle, cars seem to find them invisible, motorcycles disdain them and pedestrians find them annoying.  If they make €1 on a ride, they’ll consider that a pretty decent fare.  It is very undernourished, underpaid and thankless job, however they carry it out with resolve and natural dignity.
